Black Hawk County Conservation Board Opening

The Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors is now accepting applications to fill an upcoming vacancy on the Black Hawk County Conservation Board. This appointment is for nine months (April 1, 2026-December 31, 2026), to complete a current five-year term. The Board of Supervisors can then “renew” the appointed individual's term for another five-year term, running from January 1, 2027, through December 31, 2031, as provided by Iowa Code. 

The Conservation Board is a five-member board that oversees county conservation areas, environmental education, and natural resource programs. Applicants must be residents of Black Hawk County and should have an interest or experience in conservation, natural resources, outdoor recreation, or a related field. 

The position requires monthly attendance at the Conservation Board meetings, the second Thursday at 5:00 p.m. at the Black Hawk County Conservation Administration Building. Interested candidates should submit an application and resume and be available to interview with the Board of Supervisors.
